Adolescence often marks the first encounter with dating and the awareness of building relationships, a time when young people can become especially vulnerable to the risks of toxic dynamics and gender-based violence. Unfortunately, many youth lack safe, open spaces to explore their emotions and understand healthy relationship practices. This vulnerability is further heightened by the rise of the “manosphere,” where male-identifying youth are often exposed to toxic masculinity and harmful behaviors that can shape their views on relationships.
HUM provides youth-centered support and guidance, offering a space for young people to reflect on gender roles, relationship dynamics, and societal expectations. Through skill-building in critical thinking, active listening, and peer influence, HUM empowers youth to challenge harmful norms. The program also creates opportunities for important discussions that debunk misconceptions about gender, helping young people develop the confidence and tools to advocate for themselves and others in the face of gender-based violence.
