Diversity is a strength

Safe(r)/brave spaces online and offline

Having safe(r) and brave spaces—both offline and online—for young people to be heard is a vital protective factor against the pressures of today’s world of hate speech and violence. These spaces allow youth to explore their identities without fear of losing belonging among peers, family, or friends, while also fostering the courage to reflect on and confront aspects of identity on the path toward authenticity.

HUM provides a framework for adult allies to intentionally co-create safe(r)/brave in-person environments with youth, alongside online platforms that offer secure, supportive communities and creative ways for boys and young men to explore masculinity, relationships, and injustice. It also equips youth with resources that redirect them toward alternative perspectives, local supports, and healthier pathways.
